Selling scope with optics, or just the optics.
28" F/4.5 Nova Pyrex mirror in home made folded-Newtonian to view from the ground or step-ladder. No tool set-up, all knobs tighten by hand. All metal with two interchangeable optical configurations: 1.(shown) Folded-Newtonian with 3 mirrors. When aimed at 45 degrees, focuser height is 5.5 feet. Max eyepiece height when aimed at zenith is 7 ft, 1". I use a step-ladder. The 3 mirrors setup is the primary, 8" round flat and 3" elliptical near eyepiece. Setup #2. Newtonian includes parts for upper assembly with 5" secondary, holder and Crayford focuser. Scope structure dissembles for storage / transport in my Camry. Total weight, approx 170 pounds (including the 93 lb primary mirror). Rotational movement adjustable from a light touch to locked in place. Scope is balanced with a virtual counterweight of a cable and pulley connecting base to mirror box. As scope is moved up & down, tension from cable changes to keep scope balanced through it's range of motion. Base & side rings are chrome plated steel tubing riding on precisions bearings (base) and Teflon pads (sides). Best for medium and low power viewing. Images soften around 200x. Can be refigured locally for higher magnification.


Optics:
- 28" F/4.5 Nova Pyrex primary mirror made in '04, new coating in '08 by Composite Mirror Applications. Has 88% reflective coating. Weighs 93 pounds, 2" thick.
- 8" flat, 1/10 wave or better. Ion-deposition coating by Spectrum Coatings. 98% reflective 'MaxR' coating.
- 3" elliptical with enhanced coating, 93% reflectivity.
- Brand new 5" Pyrex secondary by Discovery Telescopes. 96% enhanced reflective coating, 1/8 wave interferometer tested.
- Brand new 5" secondary holder by AstroSystems.
- Two eyepieces: Mead 56mm 2" Plossl (56x), DSO 42mm 2" Superview (75x).
